Wandering from place to place, searching and surfing through hypnagogia-- life becomes beautifully restless.

I am fumbling aimlessly in a world I do not understand. Vainly attempting to comprehend the incomprehensible while surfing through seemingly unpredictable mood swings.Life is of my own design. I do this to myself out of either boredom or amusement.

Sexuality is one of the easiest most obvious thoughts to evoke. Complicated though, to remove the filters and preconceptions on the topic and to capture raw and honest sexuality.

I love this, on so many levels. You are absolutely right about the "filters," but raw sexuality in its purest form is pure beauty.

With no preconceptions of what one ought to be doing, the world simply is at is; no identity, it is what you want it to be.

J/K. I love this. She is just standing in this empty space... No identity is the perfect way to describe it...

After the Storm
- Thursday, October 25, 2007
I started working on this as an exercise in white charcoal on black. I had planned to finish it earlier in the week but had to leave my house due to the fires. When I left the house I grabbed only what I needed and looked at the unfinished black paper and thought crap, I'm not going to be able to finish this, I hope the house doesn't burn down. When I got back home this thing was just sort of staring at me, waiting. I touched it up a bit but didn't really spend much time on it. It seemed fine the way it was... art is meant to express to the audience the mind of the artist; and it seemed to capture what it was meant to capture.

Like anything, art requires practice, and when someone draws just as well as a 5 year old it's often because they were 5 when they stopped drawing. I suspect there's a deeper connection where it's not only skill but also the thoughts and emotions that existed when you developed the skill. For example, when asked to draw something completely from imagination, I drew this. As I was working on it I realized I draw like an angst-ridden teenager, which is about when I stopped drawing. It was kind of like looking into the past.

This is amazing. I would say it's definitely above teenager level. But then, I guess I'm not the best critic when it comes to artwork. I really love this one though =]

Interesting viewpoint. It reminds me of something I would have drawn.

it made me think of Superman. He's bound to Earth because it's the only home he's ever known and he feels he's obligated to keep saving people because no one else will.

I've tried my whole life to believe in something, but somewhere in the absurdity of religious and spiritual people I became an atheist.

A common desire of humans is to believe in something larger than themselves in order to justify their existence. To wonder what legacy they leave behind, to wonder "Why is 'it' (life) this way" and the ever popular "why am I here?" Religion (to me) is a carryover from the earliest days of civilized man who needed to be controlled so as to maintain symblance of society without having to punish everyone. Religion preyed (no pun intended)on those that did not have the intelligence to question or the desire to be ostracized from their familial groups. Today's religion is far from what it used to be - laws for the preservation of a society. Today, religion is merely a business, nothing less and certainly nothing more. Tim - there is an answer. Some learn after death, others figure it out before death and achieve an inner peace. The Hindu religion, the Buddhists, and many other 'religion' that utilize meditation to achieve an awareness of the higher level of spiritual life. The fact that you question is a good start, the fact that you are a self-professed atheist is even better. If you figure it out, life will not be 'better' but more easily understood and coped with after any events of particular relevance in your life. Fear not, if you don't get all the answers this lifetime, you'll figure it out after death and prepare yourself for a rebirth to afford yourself an opportunity to learn - yet again. It's not 'predestined' life but being born into a situation that will offer you the opportunity to learn about the reason for your existence. There is no single 'God' as religion professes but merely spirits in different planes of existence different from ours. All learning, all experiencing 'life' at different 'times' (which is an illusion), all becoming more wise, more 'complete' -- for what purpose I do not know - perhaps to 'birth' other spirits to learn and become more 'mature'. If you have met someone and had a discussion with them but no one seems to be 'home', or there is no 'depth' to them is most likely a younger spirit - learning the basics of love. Other people you meet seem wise beyond their years - the 'old' spirits, some possibly in their last 'lives' in our dimension and ready to move to something else. Inner peace - completeness of spirit, understanding of all that occurs around you as it applies to the 'big picture' of life as we know it. Hang in there Tim --- listen to your heart, your inner heart, don't 'think' so much - relax, meditate if you want to, no worries, you'll have all the answers one day.

While many religious institutions certainly have become nothing more than businesses, I challenge you to not "judge a book by its cover". If you look at nature you will begin know in your heart that it was made. There is the beginning of true faith, knowing there is a Creator.
